Engaging overlays are the secret to boosting voluntary fan tipping. When supporters see their names displayed live, hear custom sound bytes, and listen to Text-to-Speech (TTS) reading their messages, they feel connected and are more likely to support you again.
In this tutorial, we will explain how to set up, customize, and test your SuperChat BD livestream alerts directly inside OBS Studio.
Step 1: Locate your browser source link
Log into your dashboard, click on Streamer settings, and locate the widget fields:
- Alert Widget Link: Triggers visual popping animations, alert soundbytes, and TTS.
- Goal Progress Bar Link: Displays your current tip milestone goals.
- Leaderboard Link: Highlights your top supporters weekly or monthly.
Step 2: Add browser sources in OBS Studio
Open OBS Studio:
- In the Sources panel, click the + icon and select Browser.
- Name it "SuperChat Alerts".
- Paste your copied widget URL in the URL field.
- Set Width to
1920and Height to1080. - Ensure the box Control audio via OBS is checked if you want to apply filters (like noise gates or compressors) to the alert sounds.
Step 3: Customize Alert Sounds and TTS
In the Streamer Dashboard, you can select custom sound bytes (like classic gaming cash register sounds, chimes, or customized uploads) and configure Text-to-Speech settings. Choose whether TTS is read in a male/female voice and customize the minimum tipping amount required to trigger TTS alerts to prevent spam during streaming sessions.
